Roslin Orphanage (www.roslinorphanage.org), founded by Budi and Peggy, is located in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. Officially opened by the East Nusa Tenggara governor in March 2002, it caught the world spotlight when Pak Budi was awarded the 2009 CNN Hero.
Currently there are 160 children living in the Roslin Orphanage, aged 6 months to 25 years. Roslin Orphanage is trying its best to help shape the children’s future by providing them with as much education as possible. Once they complete their schooling, with the hope that they are able to graduate from University, they are encouraged to return to their home town to contribute to the community where they come from.
As Roslin Orphanage’s mission fits into one of the objectives of our Berlari untuk Berbagi (Running for Sharing) running group, which is education, we will support these children when we run the New York City Marathon (NYCM) on 2 November 2014.
We are funding one year school tuition and education related expenses for 52 children from the Orphanage and we invite you to contribute additional years to the children’s precious education. The cost of one year elementary school is approximately Rp. 1.770.000,-. per child. You are welcome to sponsor one or more child or contribute any amount which will be allocated towards an elementary child’s education. You could also support other children from the orphanage who are in junior high school, high school or university.
Your participation will boost our energy to cross the finish line of the 2014 NYCM and would be an even bigger booster towards a brighter future of the children in Kupang. Let’s do this together!
